BMTC bus catches fire

Bangalore, Dec 25, 2012, [News report by Deccan Herald] Passengers of a BMTC bus had a miraculous escape when the moving vehicle caught fire near Tin Factory on Old Madras Road. Police said the rear wheel of the bus caught fire after sparks flew from the battery. Soon, flames engulfed the bus and the driver immediately stopped the vehicle allowing passengers to get down. Two fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire.

22 autos destroyed in fire

The autorickshaws that were destroyed in fire at Beedi Colony in Mysore on Wednesday.

Twenty-two autorickshaws were destroyed in a fire at Beedi Colony, Azeez Sait Nagar, here early on Wednesday.

The cause of the fire is not known. It is said the fire broke out in an auto shed, where autorickshaw owners park vehicles for the night. Local people made an unsuccessful attempt to douse the flames. Fire-fighters from Bannimantap brought the fire under control.
