Fire in court complex
magistrate court complex on Nrupathunga Road. Two persons, who usually look after the court's parking lot, noticed smoke from the complex at 5 pm. They realized it was coming out of the third traffic court hall and alerted two staffers. The four informed the fire service, who put off the flames. The personnel suspect that a short circuit in the computer caused the fire.

Fire mishap claims one life
The deceased, Ganapathi (45), a tea stall vendor in City Market area and a resident of Kolar, died due to suffocation in his room. The injured Putta (30), owner of a petty shop in the same area, is battling for life at the Victoria Hospital, here.According to the police, both of them were staying in Sudha Lodge at K R Market. The lodge is a two-storey building, constructed several years ago. It was Ganapathi’s routine to prepare tea in the room and sell in the market area. The accident occurred when the kerosene stove accidentally burst while preparing the tea. Very soon, the fire spread spewing thick clouds of smoke. He tried to put out the fire, but failed in his attempts. Soon, he collpased coughing and seeking help in a low voice, said police. Putta, who was staying in an adjacent room, was in the bathroom when the incident occurred. He fainted moments after the smoke and flames entered his room. A few persons, who were on the first floor, noticed the fire and informed the lodge owner. The police and fire force personnel rushed to the spot and put out the fire. By the time they brought Ganapathi out of the room, he was dead. They immediately shifted Putta to the hospital. The police have taken the lodge owner, Thimme Gowda, into custody and a case of negligence has been registered against him, added the police.

Bangalore: Materials worth several lakhs of rupees were gutted in five fires across the city on Thursday.
At least Rs. 15 lakhs worth bamboo materials were engulfed in a major blaze in Bamboo Bazaar near Kalasipalya, in the early hours of Thursday.
Fire and Emergency Services staff attributed it to an electrical short circuit. Furniture and bamboo materials stored in six shops were gutted. Also burnt were a tea stall, a workshop and a scrap goods shop. Thirteen fire tenders doused the fire. Other fires were Rs. 80,000 worth clothes destroyed in Dasarahalli near Peenya around 2.15 a.m., a minor blaze at S.K. Hotel near National College in Basavangudi in the morning, chemicals worth several thousands were burnt on Nagarabavi Road at Chalukya Nagar near Moodala Palya, three cars were damaged in a fire at a garage in Basaveshwara Nagar.

Fire mishap; houses gutted in the City
As many as 35 huts were destroyed due to a fire in Veerabhadaranagar, Byatarayanapura in the early hours of Wednesday. However, no cases of casualties or injuries were reported in the accident. The huts caught fire at 2.30 am on Wednesday and as the roof thatches burnt rapidly the labourers residing in them rushed out. Most of the residents were daily wagers who had migrated from North Karnataka for menial jobs, said the police. As the word spread about the mishap, three fire tenders rushed to the spot and put out the fire. Police said as all the residents rushed out when the huts caught fire, there were none injured in the fire accident.The labourers alleged that a couple of days back, some anti social elements had threatened them for putting up huts in the government land area and suspected that the same people were behind the fire accident. A complaint has been lodged at the Byatarayanapura Police Station.
