Bantwal: Short circuit inflicts loss of Rs 8.5 lac
Bantwal, May 14: Due to electric short circuit which occurred on Sunday May 12, a farmer from Manjalpade in Sajipamunnur village has suffered a loss of about Rs 8.5 lac. Ganesh M (23), son of Mahabala Bangera, who owns the house, has filed a petition with the tahsildar in this regard.
The officials have estimated the cost of the destroyed house at Rs 4.5 lac. 30 quintals of rice, 18 quintals of paddy, 12 quintals betel nut, and 3,000 coconuts were reduced to ashes in the fire. In addition, furniture, wooden items, clothes, grinder, pump set, fan, and other things, totally worth four lac rupees, also burned down in the fire.
After short circuit was detected in one of the rooms, locals rushed to the spot and succeeded in limiting the loss. Local taluk panchayat member, Shariff Alady, former gram panchayat president,Yousuf Karandady, and others made sincere attempts to douse the fire. A local named Navin Raj, who suffered injury during the operation, was shifted to hospital.
Former MLA, Padmanabha Kottary, zilla panchayat members, Mamata Gatti and Prakash Shetty, Kalladka Srirama Vidya Kendra president, Narayan Somayaji, revenue inspector, Narayan Poojary, police station house officer, Shekhar, and others visited the spot.
