Mock fire drills educate students

Bidar: As a part of National Disaster Prevention Day here on Tuesday, various security agencies performed mock drills to educate schoolchildren on how to respond during emergencies.

The district fire office recreated a fire-fighting scene on the Sai Adarsha School premises. They set fire to makeshift huts and “rescued” people inside.

They also displayed and explained the various equipment used in fighting fires.

Home Guards demonstrated how people are evacuated from a building after a bomb explosion while a bomb squad explained how a bomb is detected and detonated.

Ambulance service
Health Department personnel showed how the Arogya Kavacha ambulance service reacts when it receives an emergency call.

Additional Superintendent of Police B.S. Marthurkar presented prizes to the winners of essay-writing and painting competitions.

Earlier, Deputy Commissioner Sameer Shukla inaugurated a rally at the police parade grounds.

Superintendent of Police N. Satish Kumar, Assistant Superintendent of Police S.Y. Ravikumar, Home Guards Commandant Jaibheem Solapure and District Fire Officer Amrit Chimkod were also present.
