Fire in Girias showroom again

Destroyed:The generator and stored kerosene intensified the fire at Girias showroom in Bangalore on Friday.
Bangalore: Electronic goods and furniture worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in a fire that broke out at Girias, one of the leading multi-brand showrooms of the city, here on Friday.Though the exact reason of the fire could not be established, electrical short circuit is being considered as the possible reason. The fire disrupted traffic on the busy Mysore Road for a while.
23 fire tenders
K.U. Ramesh, Chief Fire Officer (East Zone), Fire and Emergency Services Department, said 23 fire tenders laboured to douse the blaze. “It was a major fire and we took four hours to control it. There were no casualties.” According to him, the fire started at the godown around 11.45 a.m. and the flames engulfed the shop in no time. Fire Services Department sources said the generator as well as stored kerosene intensified the fire. The showroom was packed with hundreds of electronic goods, which made it difficult for the firemen to demolish a wall to gain proper access, the Byatarayanapura police said. When contacted by The Hindu, the shop's supervisor, Srinivas, refused to comment.
Second fire here
This is the second major fire mishap in Girias in the city in the last one month. Several lakh worth goods was destroyed in a conflagration in its Brigade Road showroom on December 12.
