Fire Dept seeks aerial platform system

In the wake of Carlton Towers’ fire mishap, the Fire and Emergency Services Department has submitted a proposal to the State Government seeking an aerial platform system for Bangalore, Mangalore and Mysore cities.
The aerial platform system is a mechanical device used to provide temporary access or equipment to people stranded in unreachable areas. It is used by firefighters for emergency access. According to sources in the fire department, there are many high-rise buildings in these cities and the aerial platform systems will help fire personnel rescue people trapped in these buildings during emergencies. The department has also sought helicopter services from Air Force and HAL in situations similar to that of Carlton Towers.
